Goa is a state on the southwestern coast of India within the Konkan region, geographically separated from the Deccan highlands by the Western Ghats. Goa is divided into two districts: North and South Goa. 1.Anjuna Beach

Goa is a land of golden beaches. The coastline stretches to more than 100 km and is considered one of the finest in Asia. Anjuna Beach is a beach in Goa, which is located 18 kilometers from Panaji and 8 kilometers to the west of Mapusa, North Goa. It is situated in Anjuna village of Bardez taluka in North Goa. Out of the 70 odd beaches in Goa, Anjuna Beach is by far the most famous beach in terms of beach parties, watersports and vibrant nightlife. Anjuna beach is about 45 kms from Goa airport.

2.Anjuna Flea Market

Anjuna Flea Market is located on the northern end of Anjuna Beach. Every Wednesday, this beach and its surrounding areas turn into the lively Anjuna Flea Market. Once a bastion of broke hippies trading their possessions to continue travelling in the country, this flea market has now transformed into one of the most sought-after markets in Goa.Anjuna Flea Market is a kaleidoscope of colors, sounds, and flavors.

 It’s a feast for the senses, and a true reflection of the beautiful diversity of India. One of the things that makes the Anjuna Flea Market such an exciting place to visit is the live music and entertainment that takes place there. Every week, talented musicians and performers from all over India and beyond come to share their talents and add to the festive atmosphere. Vendors from across India and the world set up stalls here, offering everything from Tibetan and Nepali handicrafts to clothes, trinkets, used phones, books, etc. 

Anjuna Flea Market is open to all, with no entry charges.

3.Fort Aguada

Fort Aguada is a well-preserved seventeenth-century Portuguese fort, along with a lighthouse, standing in GoaIndia, on Sinquerim Beach, overlooking the Arabian Sea. It is an ASI protected Monument of National Importance in Goa. The Sea view from the fort is great.  Aguada Fort Goa reminds of the era when the Portuguese ruled Goa.

As a tourist destination Aguada fort tops the list of other forts in Goa. The best time to visit Aguada Fort is during the winter months of November to February when the weather is pleasant and ideal for exploring the fort and enjoying the surrounding views. Distnace from Dabolim Airport to Aguada Fort is 41 kms.

An entry fee is applicable to Aguada Fort for all individuals, regardless of whether you are a local resident, a tourist, or a foreign visitor. The pricing structure differs between domestic and international tourists. For Indians its Rs.25 per head and for foreigners Rs.300.Free Entry for Children below 15 years.Also Parking changes for four wheeler is Rs.100 and for two wheeler Rs.50.

4.Chapora Fort

Chapora fort ,located in BardezGoa, rises high above the Chapora River. The site is the location of a fort built by Adil Shahi dynasty ruler Adil Shah and called Shahpoora, whose name was altered to Shapora (chapora) by Malvankar on the request of the Portuguese . The Chapora fort  sits on a prominent position which commands views in all directions. It also has steep slopes on all sides. The fort follows the outline of the higher slopes.

Chapara Fort (whose claim to fame is the shooting of Dil Chahta Hai) is a nice fort wall facing the sea. The wide area between the walls has been left wild, with the local flora and fauna.

It makes a good location for sunset, especially when sitting on the fort walls. The entrance has a few steps, but requires some walking on uneven surfaces once you enter. 

Located in the Bardez Taluka, Chapora Fort is easily accessible from the market town of Mapusa, which is about 10 km away. There are buses that run from Mapusa to Anjuna and Vagator with a stopover at the fort.

Best time to visit is November to February as Goa has a hot climate, almost all through the year. Entry is free and its open at 10 am and closes at 5 30 pm.

5.Calangute Beach

Situated 15 km from Panjim, Calangute Beach is the longest beach in North Goa, stretching from Candolim to Baga. Due to its sheer size and popularity, it is a hub for tourists and backpackers from all over the world.

Popular as the “Queen of Beaches”, the Calangute Beach of Goa is among the top ten bathing beaches in the world. The Calangute Beach is also known for its water sports activities like parasailing, water surfing, banana ride and jet-skiing.

One of the most happening things to do at Calangute Beach of Goa is to attend one of its parties once the sun goes down.

Calangute is a great place to shop for antiques, junk jewellery, keepsakes and beachwear. You can also get amazing deals for handicrafts made in Kashmir, Tibet, Indonesia and Rajasthan.The roadside markets are a perfect place to shop for cute beach outfits, earrings, necklaces etc.

Its is close to The Thivim Railway Station is also close, at about 19 km and a taxi from there would cost between INR 300 – 400. The Dabolim Airport is slightly farther away at a distance of about 39 km from Calangute.
